The Manifestation Myth: Beyond Wishful Thinking – Why Achieving Goals Demands More

Okay, so you’ve set your goal, you’re very committed to it and you’re manifesting success. That should do it right?

In our culture of “positivity” we just don’t like to think about anything going wrong. Therefore, we’re completely unprepared when it does!

Part of a successful goal setting plan is to take a good look at all the obstacles you may face as you work towards your goal.

Let’s say your goal is to exercise more. What are some potential obstacles you could face?

  • You have no motivation or energy for exercise that day

  • You have to work late and miss your regular work out

  • You suffer an injury and can’t do the exercise you were doing

  • Getting sick with the flu

  • Other priorities take your attention and focus

  • You don’t see the results you want and get frustrated

There are several benefits to identifying potential obstacles:

  1. It allows for proactive planning and equips you with the tools to overcome them.

  2. It fosters resilience. Knowing what hurdles may come your way empowers you to bounce back from setbacks, promoting a resilient mindset.

  3. It provides motivation during setbacks. Instead of being demoralized by challenges, awareness fuels determination and a sense of purpose to push through difficulties. It

Action Steps:

Come up with a plan for how you will handle these obstacles.

What your own plan is for dealing with obstacles is personal and individual to you and your lifestyle. There is no right or wrong plan.

Take the time to write down your “disaster plan”. Talk it over with someone who has similar goals and gain ideas from others.

Remember, the journey is as important as the destination, and knowing the obstacles transforms them from barriers into stepping stones toward your goals.
